Rezension

This lively “Allegro” is certainly formal in structure and possibly even mathematical and metrical. A Molto Vivace with frequent changes of time signature, there is a main theme which occurs five times with contrasting sections interspersed but the driving rhythmic force and energy are constant throughout making the lively, crossrhythms, chordal sections, syncopations and strong dynamics just a part of this moto perpetuo. Technically, the music lies comfortably within the hands and the speed of the time-changes and crossrhythms can soon be mastered leaving advanced students with a great four-minute-long substantial piece to add to their repertoire which would certainly provide excellent encore material although being such brilliant fun, it really deserves a place in every programme.
