Beschreibung

Inhalt

Für Elise - Dance For Eliza / Symphony No. 5- The Fifth / Piano Sonata No. 14 ("Moonlight") (First Movement) - Moonlight Lament / Minuet In G - Minuet Boogie / Piano Sonata No. 8 ("Pathétique") (Beginning of second movement) - Ballad Of the Pathetique / Ode To Joy (from 9th Symphony) - Joy Samba

Rezension

The Jazz On! Series provides a much more exciting approach to reinventing the classics. Each book presents pairs of pieces; one an original work … and the other a jazz interpretation by the book´s author. The second pieces are not merely jazzy versions, but stand on their own, having been harmonically rhythmically and motivically derived from the original. This approach gives some results of real musical depth and range. … It is also very useful to see the original works alongside the new pieces. There are helpful accompanying notes discussing style, swing, relevant jazz theory and suggestions for approaching the improvised sections, plus CD recordings of each piece. (Music Teacher, June 2006)
